Does Your Portable Carpet Cleaner Blow fuses?

It is interesting with vac motors that if you restrict the airflow you get less amperage draw.  The faster they turn the more amperage they draw.  That seems so counter intuitive.   I would have thought the restricted airflow would make the motor work harder.  Not true, with electric vac motors the faster they turn the more amps they use.

Solutions to Blown Fuses

If your porty is blowing fuses you can create more resistance either in the intake or the outflow of your porty and get less amperage draw.  Keep your wand on the floor more and you will pull fewer amps.  Counter intuitive but True.

If you are using a Rotovac and blowing fuses a lot put glides on the Rotovac which will limit the airflow and you will not blow fuses as easily.

If you add an extra 25 feet of 2″ hose to your system you will lose approximately 5% of your lift and CFM.  This might add just enough extra resistance to cut down on your fuse blowing problems.
Most Glides will cut down on your porty blowing fuses also since they limit airflow..
